Whitney High School Theatre
Theatre at Whitney is a full time theatre arts program at Whitney High School in the Rocklin Unified School District. Over the course of their four years at WHS, students can participate in up to five theatre classes, two main stage performances per year, Lenaea Festival, Drama Club, and field trips. Qualifying students are eligible to join the Thespian Society, which is part of the Educational Theatre Association.

Mr. Josh Ansley
Theatre Program Director
Josh Ansley started teaching Theatre at Whitney High School in 2016. He received a teaching credential from Brandman University, a B.A. in English from Vanguard University of Southern California, and is an alumni of Del Oro High School in Loomis, CA, where he grew up. It was while attending Sierra College in Rocklin, CA that he began to find a passion for Theatre, Film and Acting. Under the tutelage of the late Michael Hunter, he performed in several shows there including The Ladies’ Not For Burning and Cafe Universe. Following Sierra, Josh grew as an actor during his time at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, CA, where he majored in Theatre for a period of time; performing in notable productions such as The Secret Garden, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Clearing, and The Pillowman. His most notable performance came from playing Jake in Sam Shepard’s A Lie of the Mind. He also developed his playwriting skills with the help of Professor Warren Doody. Josh continued to master his craft by taking every professional workshop he could attend during college. He further developed his craft with the use of the Meisner Technique as taught by professional casting director Chuck McCollum and gained further on-camera techniques alongside the teaching of Christinna Chauncey. While working as a Production Assistant for Cooke Pictures in Burbank and Santa Monica, CA, Josh had the opportunity to meet industry professionals and see the ins and outs of the entertainment industry. All the while, he worked as an extra in films and television shows including as Officer Dempsey in C.S.I Miami.
Josh enjoys basketball and all sports, reading, hiking, traveling, watching Ken Burns documentaries, attending King’s games, Giants games, and local zoos and theaters. He also likes to spend time with his friends and family, cat Forest, dog Luna, and especially with his wife, Mallory.
Mrs. Mallory Ansley
Musical Director: Choreographer
Mrs. Mallory Ansley started teaching Dance at Whitney High School in 2016. She teaches Dance 1, Dance 2, and Dance 2 Hip Hop. She is also is the Maroon Dance Team Head Coach, the choreographer for the musical, and the Hip Hop Club advisor.
Mrs. Ansley was born and raised in Rocklin, CA and is an alumni of Rocklin High School. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from William Jessup University with a Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies and a concentration in Psychology. In addition, she obtained her teaching credential from Brandman University.
Mrs. Ansley first fell in love with dance at the age of three and has been trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and musical theatre. Since 2009 she has taught at the RUSD high schools in many capacities including as a choreographer for advanced dance shows, dance teams, and musicals, a long-term substitute for high school dance teachers, and a dance team coach.
Mrs. Ansley is now in her eighth year of choreographing musicals for both Whitney and Rocklin High, and she is extremely excited for another great year!
Mr. Kris Harper
Musical Director: Orchestra
Kris is currently the Director of Music at Whitney High School in Rocklin, CA. He is in charge of every facet of the music department. Prior to this appointment, Kris served as the music director at Cupertino, Livermore, and Tracy High Schools. He has conducted close to 25 musical orchestras, including every show at Whitney High School Kris is an adjudicator for the Northern California Band Association, judging parade, field, concert and winter events in all captions. Kris has been a music festival adjudicator throughout the Western United States, Hawaii and Kentucky. Kris is a member of NCBCDA, NCBA, CODA, ACDA, NaFME, CMEA.
